January 2011 - Wanted to paint snow so I chose a photo of Ben on the slopes. There's hardly any white in the snow - mostly violets and yellows. Really enjoyed painting this and I like adding people to paintings.
December 2010 - Practicing at home. Painted this bass from a photo of Bob's catch. I really like it; but not being a fisherman, I wasn't so picky about its head being too big and its body too short (Bob's critique . . .)
November 2010 - At our next class, we brought our own photos to paint. This was painted from a photograph of Zach and I at the Indiana State Fair. The photo was supposed to be of people in motion but I didn't have time to take any new photos - so I used this one. It is more of an incomplete portrait painting than secondary people in a landscape - but I like it.
November 2010 - This was so much fun! Jerry Points showed us how to paint people in action from photos. The purpose of this exercise was to show us how to paint people for use in landscape/city scape paintings. My favorite exercise so far.
November 2010 - I went to the library and selected several books on painting landscapes (and seascapes) in oil. I read them all and then attempted to copy one of the paintings as shown above. The original was much better but I'm improving.
